Chapter 1366

You made a big scene tonight and even hit him. I tried to make peace several times, but you refused.
And how many times did you yell at me tonight?”
“I don’t remember,” he replied with a rigid tone.
Lucinda scolded, “You deserve to be punished. Kneeling for one night isn’t enough. How about a whole day and night?”
Nathan felt a surge of bitterness in his heart. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he remained silent.
She sat cross legged on the edge of the bed and took a deep breath.
It was the first time they’ve had such an intense dispute since they got back together.
Considering the precious babies growing inside her, she took another deep breath, attempting to rein in her emotions. She just decided to ignore him and let him continue kneeling.
Pulling out her phone, she immersed herself in work again.
The room soon grew silent, suffused with tension.
After more than ten minutes of arguing and being ignored for over thirty minutes, Nathan started experiencing increasing pain in his knees.
He frowned and breathed heavily as beads of cold sweat formed on his forehead.

Although she seemed engrossed in her phone, Lucinda stole glances at him every now and then, noticing his suffering.
She let out a sigh and said, “If you kneel for a whole day and night, I’m afraid you won’t be able to walk tomorrow or the day after.” Her tone had softened.

He clenched his fists and said sadly, “I don’t care if my legs become disabled. In the end, no one will pity me or care about me anyway.”
Lucinda was left speechless.
Seeing the anguish on his face, she finally relented this time.
“Oh, come on now! If you go and hurt yourself, I’ll feel sorry for you,” she exclaimed, gave him a gentle hug and then wiped the sweat off his forehead. Her voice took on a softer tone as she touched his cheek.
“I was totally wrong! Tomorrow, I’ll let Zakai know that I won’t have dinner with him alone. And if I do end up dining with him, I’11l make sure to bring you along. Does that sound okay?”
Nathan had visibly calmed down and let out an arrogant snort.
“Fine, I’ll forgive you this time. Just make sure it doesn’t happen again!”
“Alright, I promise it won’t happen again. Now, get up quickly.”
With a gentle hand, she helped him up and guided him to the bedside, where she rolled up his trouser legs to examine his knees.
His knees had swollen from the rough edges of the washboard. Luckily, he hadn’t knelt for too long, so there were no bruises.
